Compare pip values across forex majors, crosses, gold, silver, NAS100, US30 and Bitcoin — all priced in your chosen account currency at today's ECB reference rates.
All nine bars are one pip on one standard lot. Silver's pip is worth fifty times gold's, because a silver lot is 5,000 ounces against gold's 100 — the pip size is the same cent in both. Bars for pairs quoted in another currency are converted at the live rate, so they move during the day.
Each instrument class has its own pip convention. Find the class, read the rule, check the worked example against the matrix above — the numbers should agree.
| Instrument class | Pip | Standard lot | Pip value rule | Worked example |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Major & cross pairs | 0.0001 | 100,000 units | pip × 100,000 × lot × (quote → account) | EUR/USD, USD account: $10.00 per lot |
| JPY-quoted pairs | 0.01 | 100,000 units | pip × 100,000 × lot × (JPY → account) | USD/JPY: 1,000 JPY per lot, converted live |
| Gold (XAU/USD) | 0.01 | 100 troy oz | fixed — independent of the gold price | $1.00 per lot |
| Silver (XAG/USD) | 0.01 | 5,000 troy oz | fixed — independent of the silver price | $50.00 per lot |
| Indices (NAS100, US30) | 1 point | broker contract | point value set by the broker, not by a market convention | ≈ $1.00 per point — verify in MT4 → Specification |
Rates come from ECB reference data, refreshed each business day. They are reference rates, not live bid/ask: your broker's pip value will differ by the spread and by the moment of the fill.
FxPro's typical spread on EUR/USD is 1.2–1.5 pips on Standard accounts. At 1 standard lot, that's $12–$15 cost to enter and exit — your position needs to move at least that far in your favour just to break even. Use the pip value above to see the exact cost at your lot size.
FxPro's cTrader accounts offer raw spreads from 0.0 pips with a separate per-trade commission — often cheaper for active traders placing multiple trades per day.
